Peter Pettigrew is different in this scene then we have ever seen him – he is kind of mothering Lord Voldemort. But there is also a whole portion where he is really questioning Lord Voldemort on his motives and what he wants to do in terms of getting Harry.
Why is Peter so set on Voldemort not choosing Harry? Or why suggest that he take another person? Why is he questioning Lord Voldemort on the death of Bertha Jorkins? Has his life debt to Harry somehow begun to change his heart, look out for Harry in some way? Has he suddenly just developed a conscience? Or has Peter always been this way?
