Be On The Show!

This podcast is entirely produced by fans for fans…

therefore we’d love – and expect to have – each and every one of you as a guest on this show! Listeners from around the globe, regardless of age, are encouraged to audition.

Now that the re-read is technically over, we have decided to continue on with topic based episode discussions. In order to have the absolute most passionate guest on any given episode, we have changed the way auditions for the show are sent.

At the beginning of each month, we will post a new list of topics that we are interested in discussing on upcoming episodes. As a guest host, you can fill out the form below for a specific topic, being sure to include a juicy tidbit about why you should be chosen for that episode. Don’t hold back! Alohomora! listeners who contribute the most unique insights to topic discussions will be the likeliest candidates to be chosen as hosts.

Tips For A Successful Audition

There are many factors that contribute to creating a successful audition for Alohomora!. A few things to keep in mind:

  • You need to be able to record yourself! As we say on the show, no fancy equipment is needed, but you do at least need a microphone and a pair of headphones (non-earbuds are recommended)
  • The room you record in is very important. Fans, Air Conditioning units, pets, siblings, etc., all make noise. Try to record in a small room that has curtains or fabric of some kind to help dampen the echo. Turn of all fans, and sit fairly close to your recording device.
  • Speak slowly and clearly. If you have a cold or allergies, it might be best to wait a week to record your audition. If we can’t understand you, the listeners won’t be able to hear your fabulous Potter points!
  • HAVE FUN! The most successful Alohomora! guests are those that aren’t afraid to speak up or bring up something that may seem absurd. Nothing you say can shock us – remember Noah? Yeah, us too.

Please Be Patient!

We know that you are very anxious to join us on the show – believe us, we are anxious to have you! – but we get a lot of emails from listeners just like you who want to discuss Potter with us. It can take anywhere from 3 – 4 weeks to get an email back with a guest host offer. Please bear with us, and we promise, your place in line will be held.

You may submit for more than one topic in the form below, however, you must do so separately. Thank you!

ALL SUBMISSIONS MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY AN AUDIO FILE IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED. Details can be found underneath the contact form below.

Could a twelve year old come on the podcast? Or would the hypothetical twelve year old be too young?

    • HowAmIGoingToTranslateThis

was this question ever answered anywhere?

      • Felix Scamander

        Was it?

        • Kat

We encourage all ages to apply! If you can speak intelligently about Harry Potter, and fit the above requirements, we want to talk to you 🙂

          • Felix Scamander

I don’t really feel like I should – there are still some people who have been listening for much, much longer than me anyway, and have never been on the show.

  • VoldemortFangirl

Are you still looking for guest hosts for Deathly Hallows or have all the slots been booked up?

    • Yes please tell us next show! I think I’d like to come on but my voice is fairly high on recording.

  • Georgia Scherer

Would ten years old be too young to be on the podcast? I just started listening to the podcast kind of recently but I am a huge Harry Potter fan and I feel like I would probably be able to intelligently discuss the books.

  • SwishAndFlick27

I’m not sure how I can share my thoughts on Cursed Child without spoilers. I’m struggling to think of something non-spoilery haha

  • Soc.forRescueofVanishedAnimals

Could the microphone on a set of good headphones work well enough? I assume so, since you have mentioned Apple headphones on the show before (I have both Apple and Bose), but just want to confirm for when I eventually send an application. Thanks!

  • Jaye Dozier

Hello Alohomora staff! I sent in my request to be on the show, but am not sure how to record an audio example to send in an email from my computer. I could record one on my phone, but not sure if that would be accurate since I would be using my computer for the show if I got offered a spot. I sent in an audio recording around a year ago, give or take – would I need to do another?

So sorry for the confusion! Thank you for your help 🙂

    • Do you have a microphone of any kind? If you have those famous Apple headphones that have the built-in mic, you can download a program called Audacity to record. Audacity is a free program that pretty much everybody in the world uses for recording. So long as you have a microphone and headphones, Audacity will do the rest.
