The single most cited moment of Snape’s “love” for Lily is in his declaration that everything he does will “always” be for Lily. We see that the text states “his eyes were full of tears”, and we assume that to be Dumbledore. Our discussion touched on this a bit, but we want to know what you think is the motivation behind this rush of emotion. How does this moment define, or inform, the individual storylines of Snape and/or Dumbledore, and the overall themes of the Potter novels?
